Phone. Wallet. Keys.
I got a friend of mine used to saying that when he prepared to leave home because he was always forgetting one of them. The items weren’t exactly misplaced, they just didn’t manage to make it outside at the same time he did. I am sure this has happened to a lot of people more times than they are comfortable with. I mean, people hurry and forget things. Leaving your items at home is a best case scenario. Leaving them elsewhere is far more detrimental.
This is where Bluetooth trackers shine and get me excited! You see, these trackers attach to your possessions and once you are within range, an app on your phone can alert you to your item’s location.
I’m sure you can see the benefit in this. But is it worth shelling out the money for it? Our phones have apps to helps us locate them if we misplace them. Some laptops and tablets have similar apps. But that just leaves us to worry about our keys, wallets, purses, handbags, water bottles, headphones and Chapstick. And then there are things such as our driver’s licence, our chargers and our journals. These things are important and we generally have no way to find them if they get lost.
When I consider all that, I am tempted to get a set of trackers.
Like this one from Tile. I just think they are so cute! But clearly they are also functional. Tile has a tracker that attaches to your key ring. There is one that goes in your wallet like a credit card. And then there is the one that looks like a cable holder that you can stick on things like your TV remote or notebook.
There are many other options available out there so if you are thinking about investing in a bluetooth tracker do your research. Look into the range of the tracker, its size and its volume. This article from the New York Times reviews the Tile and Chipolo trackers, but also gives a quick rundown of what to look for when considering getting a tracker.
If you have a bluetooth tracker or are considering getting one, share your thoughts with me.
