How do you feel about bracelet flasks?

The trend to make everyday items multi-functional has increased over the past few years. Our phones are no longer just for talking. We can run entire businesses from them. Our watches no longer just tell time. They can now capture all manner of information about our health and fitness. Even our jewelry has dual purposes. They are no longer just for adornment, but they can get you help in an emergency.

Recently, I stumbled on this bracelet flask and I couldn’t help but wonder why is it a thing, while simultaneously thinking I really want it! If not already clear from the name, a bracelet flask is a piece of jewelry that also works as a flask. Its absolutely perfect for those occasions where you need to “discreetly” tote around a few ounces of a little somethin’.

Look at this one that I spotted over at It’s really kinda cute. I love the blue one but the cork sticking out of the top is kinda weird. Also, it holds about a shot of liquor … which I suppose is enough to chug quickly, without looking too weird.

Image from

This one from Amazon, holds 2 – 3 shots and even comes with a funnel for easy filling!

How is that not a win?!

The bracelets can be found in a variety of looks. Some a plain while others are bedazzled! Some have rhinestone caps while others have wine cork looking caps. There’s something for everyone. After a bit of browsing, I must admit that this is an interesting little gizmo. I am not seeing a practical everyday application for this, but it may be a fun item to take along to parties and festivals and the like. It might even be a good conversation starter if you are in a spot where you may need a bit of help.

So Friends, let me know how you feel about this bit of functional jewelry! Have you ever seen one in real life? Do you or someone you know own one? Have you seen one of the other novelty flasks (lipstick, hairbrush, tampons)? Would you like one as a gift?

I can’t stop thinking about this screen protector.

As the dutiful cellphone owner that I am, I got a phone case and screen protector to keep my device in the best condition possible. Let’s face it, with our whole worlds wrapped up in these nifty little packages, our phones need to be properly cared for. And sometimes they may even need to be protected from us. After some amount of time and countless drops, my screen protector needed changing. Thankfully, it took the brunt of all my missteps and my screen didnt shatter.

But now, I was in need of a replacement screen protector. I tried to delay this as much as I could. After all, I could the screen protector was only cracked and I could still see just fine. Shards of glass weren’t yet poking me in the finger, so I figured I had some time to play with. Sadly, I couldn’t put off the inevitable for much longer. Fortunate for me though, I was recently gifted a set of screen protectors.

Now, I hadn’t bought a screen protector in a while so I must admit that I was dreading replacing the damaged one. The thought of removing the old one, cleaning the screen then painstakingly applying the new one, ensuring perfect alignment, was stressing me out. So you can only imagine how happy I was with my gift.

You see, this screen protector wasn’t quite what I was expecting. It wasn’t what I was used to. The box was pretty standard. But when I opened it, it had more than just the screen protectors! There were dust removal wipes. There a little silicone thing to help get rid of air bubbles. There were these little sticky things to help get rid of lint. There was a microfibre cloth. However, the best thing in the package was thing little tray.

It looks intimidating, but it’s amazing! No more worrying about your screen protector not being perfectly positioned!

The little tray seemed a little confusing at first, however once I figure it out my mind was blown! You see, this little try, otherwise noted as an “auto-alignment installation kit” is meant to take the guesswork and heartache out of correctly position the screen protector on your phone.

From Amazon

Once you remove the adhesive backing and clean your phone screen, you just have to put the tray with the screen protector already in place, on your phone. You apply some pressure and then after a few seconds, you remove any air bubbles and that’s it! You’re done! And your beloved device is back to being protected without you having to stress or call in reinforcements to make sure everything lines up perfectly.

I’m very happy to have stumbled on to this little gem, despite how late I may be to the party. Did I mention that you get 2 in the box? No? Well, that’s also another reason to love this item. Anyhoo, have you ever tried this? Are you mad that no one told you about it? Are you surprised others don’t know about it? Well share the word (and this post)!

I can’t stop thinking about bottle cleaning tabs

I have spent many hours browsing Buzzfeed gift guides and lists of things to buy (please don’t judge me). And I’ve seen these little effervescent tablets being touted as a god send for cleaning water bottles, travel mugs (here is a link to my favourite mug) and the like. They seem fun to look at and have been said to be very useful and effective. If you’ve never seen them, have a look at this video.

But I cant help but wonder why they’re necessary . You see, these tabs are placed into stained, smelly, or otherwise dirty containers with the aim of restoring them to a clean state. You put the tablet into your container then add hot/warm water and then it works its magic. So far, so good. What’s got me stumped is how the container got that way in the first place!

Let’s say you’ve got a coffee cup that you use everyday. Is it not washed everyday? Let’s say you forgot to wash it or empty its contents, would that be enough to stain the inside of the cup? This seems unlikely to me. From my own experience, once left to soak for a bit and washed thoroughly containers can be revived to their previously glorious, shiny selves.

So then I thought, maybe it’s the cleaning method. Dishwashers aren’t particularly popular in my country, so dishes are generally done by hand. Could this account for the difference? Is a sponge and/or bottle brush more effective than a dishwasher? If so, why not go that route instead of risking stains etc in your cup and then needing an additional cleaning product?

Well, whatever the case is, someone saw the need for this little cleaning gem and clearly this a market for it (It has over 19,000 ratings on Amazon!). Tell me, have you ever tried this (or a similar) product? What lead you to try it? Does it really work? Share your experience and enlighten me!

I am looking for an insulated lunch container.

One of my favourite activities that makes me feel like mom is to make lunch for my son. He has decided not to have the meals prepared by his school. Instead he prefers to take meals prepared at home (YAY!). I usually prepare enough lunches for the week on Sunday and he reheats it at school.

However, I want to remove the reheat at school step. Apparently, there is a fee to do this and on principle I am against it. I can’t image what would give rise to the need to charge students a fee for reheating lunches they’ve brought to school. So, my search for an insulated lunch container has started.

So what am I looking for in an insulated lunch container?

Well, first of all, I need a container that actually holds the heat. I don’t necessarily want the meal to be piping hot, but it shouldn’t be room temperature or cold. I have seen several YouTube videos doing comparison heat tests. A thermometer is used to test the temperature of the food at the time its placed in the container and then a few hours later. The results varied with the contents of some containers being cold despite claims that the food would be hot.

Additionally, as I am intending for a child to use the lunch container, I didnt want one with any overly complicated requirements for use. I just want to put hot/warm food in it, and have it still be that way in about 4 hours. there are some containers on the market that can be plugged in, while others require you add hot water to maintain the heat. These are more self-heating than insulated and thats not what im going for.

This little gem is a food warming tote and comes highly recommended on Amazon. Reviewers claim it will not only warm stuff, but will actually cook it from a raw state. That’s impressive when you consider that you can use any type of container in it and all you have to do is plug it in.

Here is an electric lunch box. The item needs to be plugged in and a bit of water needs to added to the container. It seems to work and even cooks rice.

I like that it has multiple containers but I wouldn’t get it for a child.

Finally, I am thinking about the volume of the lunch container. I need something that will hold a good portion of food. And I definitely do not want a container that is primarily for soups and pastas. I want something that can accommodate a meal with rice or mashed potatoes, etc.

This container from Thermos came up as one of the top search results. Thermos is a well recognised branch for this purpose. There are also lots of design options as the “Funtainer” is the kid friendly product.

I like it for the fun aspect, but it doesn’t seem like it would hold a lot of food. And it seems more geared towards soups and pasta and oatmeal etc.

I came across this bowl, which looked perfect for my purposes. It seemed like it would hold a decent portion of food and also seemed compact enough to go in a lunch bag.

Sadly though reviewers said it doesn’t hold heat well and that there is an inner silicone lid that’s kind of hard to open

A trick I have noticed many use when using insulated containers (hot or cold use), is that the container may need to be prepped a bit. That is, if you add hot or cold water to your container for a few minutes before use, it will maintain the desired temperature for a longer period.

Based on all my reading and research, I think I’m going to try a container from a Japanese manufacturer called Mr Bento. It’s not the cutest of products but it seems to hit my other requirements.

Inside the canister there are 4 containers. That many containers seem like they should be sufficient for lunch and snacks. The containers keep the heat on their own and don’t require any external elements for heating. And if I can trust the reviewers about how well it holds heat, then this checks all the boxes for me.

There are other options which have 2 and 3 containers, just in case 4 doesn’t suit you. I am looking forward to purchasing this and hope it goes as I expect. If it does, I can definitely see myself purchasing more units.

So tell me, have any of you ever used insulated lunch containers? What has been your experience? Do you have any tips and tricks to share?

I’ve got my eye on a Bluetooth tracker.

Phone. Wallet. Keys.

I got a friend of mine used to saying that when he prepared to leave home because he was always forgetting one of them. The items weren’t exactly misplaced, they just didn’t manage to make it outside at the same time he did. I am sure this has happened to a lot of people more times than they are comfortable with. I mean, people hurry and forget things. Leaving your items at home is a best case scenario. Leaving them elsewhere is far more detrimental.

This is where Bluetooth trackers shine and get me excited! You see, these trackers attach to your possessions and once you are within range, an app on your phone can alert you to your item’s location.

I’m sure you can see the benefit in this. But is it worth shelling out the money for it? Our phones have apps to helps us locate them if we misplace them. Some laptops and tablets have similar apps. But that just leaves us to worry about our keys, wallets, purses, handbags, water bottles, headphones and Chapstick. And then there are things such as our driver’s licence, our chargers and our journals. These things are important and we generally have no way to find them if they get lost.

When I consider all that, I am tempted to get a set of trackers.

Like this one from Tile. I just think they are so cute! But clearly they are also functional. Tile has a tracker that attaches to your key ring. There is one that goes in your wallet like a credit card. And then there is the one that looks like a cable holder that you can stick on things like your TV remote or notebook.

This bundle from Chipolo claims to the the loudest, waterproof bluetooth tracker available. I don’t know anything about that, but I love the variety colours available.

There are many other options available out there so if you are thinking about investing in a bluetooth tracker do your research. Look into the range of the tracker, its size and its volume. This article from the New York Times reviews the Tile and Chipolo trackers, but also gives a quick rundown of what to look for when considering getting a tracker.

If you have a bluetooth tracker or are considering getting one, share your thoughts with me.

Do I really need AirPods?

Hey Friends!

I have been considering getting a pair of the Apple AirPods Pro. If you aren’t familiar with them, the AirPods Pro are the latest iteration of earbuds from Apple. According to Apple, the AirPods Pro “deliver Active Noise Cancellation for immersive sound”. They also have an option that lets you hear your surroundings. You can customize the fit of the tips so it fits yours ears better than a one size fits all situation.

As one would expect the AirPods Pro seamlessly integrate with Siri, so you can tell it to play you favourite songs or set reminders or read your messages, or do whatever you need her to do. You get about 24 hours of listening time and 18 hours of talk time. There are controls for your music, and if your phone supports it you can use audio sharing to share the same audio stream on 2 sets of AirPods … meaning you and a pal can watch movies or listen to an audiobook or listen to the same music together (I imagine this is kind of like having your own silent party).

So, now that we know what they are and what they should do, I am back to my question of do I really need a pair? I imagine earbuds were meant for people who are always listening to music or podcasts. I am not one of those people. I suppose I could be, but I’m currently not. It’s not that I don’t listen to music, I just don’t think I listen to it enough to need a device dedicated to that purpose.

Maybe I could grow into having a pair. I mean, if I spent my money on them, I may very well be inclined to make the most of them. I could use them when I do my exercises. I could use them when I’m watching Netflix in bed. I could use them to drown out my kid when he is watching people on YouTube play Minecraft. I am not entirely convinced these are compelling enough reasons to buy them … but I still want them.

So friends, tell me what you think. Do I really need AirPods or does it sound like I just want them because they are there? Do you own a pair? Do you actually use them?

I’ve got my eye on an ice-cream maker

Hi Friends!

Something new has popped up on my radar and now I can’t stop thinking about it. A few days ago I wrote about wanting a milkshake maker because I had been craving milkshakes but I couldn’t get one brought to me. If I had my own milkshake maker I could make them myself whenever I wanted.

This seemed like a reasonable proposition until I realised that I didnt have the ingredients to make a milkshake. Well, I had milk but no ice-cream. NO ICE-CREAM!!! So that got me thinking, what kind of house am I running that doesnt have a constant supply of ice-cream? Then it hit me that I need an ice-cream maker.

At home ice cream makers work by manually or electrically churning a cream based mixture to produce small batches of ice-cream. Some require that the mixture or machine be pre-cooled to ensure it is kept cool and aerated while churning.

One of the big benefits of making your own ice cream is that you control what goes in it. You can make it with dairy substitutes or add-ins according to your liking. And then who can forget the added benefit of having ice-cream on hand at all times???? Uh I am excited!

Have a look at this one? It makes enough for 1 serving in about 30 minutes. The cup has to be chilled for 24 hours, after which you can have your ice-cream in about 30 minutes.

The good folks who have made that single serving size maker, have also made one that’s a bit larger so you can share with your family (if you must).

This little device from Cuisinart is a tad pricey but it wears many hats. You can make ice cream or yoghurt or gelato!

The prospect of having ice cream whenever I want it, without having to run to the store, is very exciting. I am seriously considering purchasing this, but as usual several questions arise. Do I really need it or am I just excited by the novelty of it? Am I actually going to use it? Is this the best use of my money?

So friends, what do you think? Should I get an ice-cream maker?

I’ve got my eye on a paper shredder

Do I really need a paper shredder? Probably not but I really want one. You see, I stumbled on one while browsing a Buzzfeed list and since then I’ve just decided I need one.

Usually you find shredders in offices where documents with sensitive information need to be disposed of properly. Additionally, you may have a home office and can justify the use of a shredder. Me? I work from home and I dont really use a lot of paper so I dont need one … but I WANT ONE!

So, you know what I did? I headed over to Amazon to see what I could find. And that’s when I stumbled on this one from Amazon Basics. Its cute (I think) and its under $50. I think to myself that if I buy it and only use it a few times, I won’t be too pissed because I didnt spend a lot of money.

Couldn’t you see this beside your desk/kitchen table? Don’t you think you would find use for it once you got it? YES?? Me too!!

Here is another option! It’s under $40 and has all sorts of paper shredder options that I didnt even know were a thing.

It’s too early to tell whether or not I will get one of these, but I really want one.

I’ve got my eye on a milkshake maker

For the past few weeks I have been craving milkshakes. I’m not sure what exactly I’m craving but I know its all wrapped up in the cold, sweet, creamy concoction. The challenge I face though, is that I am not mobile right now and none of my usual delivery services will deliver one to me. So I am left craving, wanting … NEEDING a milkshake.

With that in mind, I have set out to find a solution to my no milkshake having problem. I could ask a friend and I did, but that hasn’t panned out. So I got to the point where I thought of making one myself. I can get all the ingredients at the store and whip one up.

But wait … What am I going to whip it up in? A regular blender? Sure, seems doable but not quite. It just seems like the blender is not quite right for the job, hence my foray into the world of milkshake makers! Milkshake makers have one purpose … to make you a fantastic milkshake.

A milkshake maker uses a stem-like arm to combine the ingredients completely, so you get a glorious creamy product that isn’t watery or thin. This machine gives you more control over your creation. You can aim the stem wherever you need more blending and ensure that all your added treats are evenly distributed. A milkshake maker also froths the milk and ice cream, making a thicker, tastier treat with just the right consistency. The stem aerates the ingredients, while a blender simply rotates the ingredients.

Ohhh with a process like that I can already taste the yumminess! And after a bit of scrolling on Amazon, I am convinced buying one is a good idea!!! So far I am loving this Brentwood Classic Milkshake Maker.

Isn’t this oh so cute? I feel like if I had it, I would use it.

This one doesnt look quite as much, but it looks like it would work.

But it begs the question … Do I really need one? How many times am I really going to use it? Couldn’t I just use a blender for the occasional milkshake craving? Is getting one more trouble than its worth? How can I possibly justify this purchase?

What do you think folks, should I get a milkshake maker?

You know what I’ve always wanted …

I spend a lot of time scrolling through Amazon and perusing Buzzfeed shopping recommendations. I am not necessarily looking for anything but I am often fascinated by the mass of things that are out there.

Some of the items seems like they would be good, practical purchases but I either can’t think of why *I* would need it or how *I* would use it. Other items look like they make absolutely no sense, and I can’t understand why anyone would spend their money on them.

Either way, it makes for a good distraction and sometimes there are gems!
