What about Easter egg trees?

Christmas is over 200 days away, but that didn’t stop a neighbour of mine from playing Christmas carols recently. I must admit that it was very nice to hear. I felt very Christmas-y. It put me in a good mood all weekend. Anyway, it got me thinking I need something Christmas-y to lift my spirits. And what better to do that, than a Christmas tree!!!

Unfortunately, I don’t keep my tree up all year long and some folks think it’s weird to put one up when the year is only 3 months in. But there is a silver lining … Easter egg trees. I did not know this was a thing until recently, but it is a thing. It’s a tree from which you hang Easter eggs and other treats. Some have lights while others don’t. Most of the ones I have seen, are just big enough to set on a table … like a beautiful centerpiece.

It’s kinda cute, isn’t it? It’s about 2ft tall and comes with 24 lights. This item even comes with 12 ornaments.

This one looks like a birch tree. It comes with 6 ornaments and is pre-lit.

This beauty is a tabletop bonsai tree with 24 LED lights.

You could probably turn creating Easter egg ornaments into a fun craft project. But if that’s not your style, you can buy a set. You have plain ones, speckled ones and fillable decorated ones.

All things considered, I am actually onboard with the idea of Easter egg trees. They can be decorated to make the place feel really festive. And not just festive for Easter time, but for any time of year that you need a bit of cheering up. I could actually see this as decor in a (older) child’s room with pictures of family and friends. I can even see it being used at birthday and mother’s day celebrations. Had I not learned about it just recently, I would have bought one.

What do you think? Could you do with a bit of cheer from one of these cute trees?

What do you think about a beer dispenser?

Today’s bit of scrolling brought me to this little gadget. It’s a Draft Pour Beer Dispenser. I’ve always thought that foamy bit (read: head) on top of beers was cool. It looks fun and nice. I don’t know if it has an impact on the taste but like I said it looks fun.

Photo by Pavel Danilyuk on Pexels.com

I’m sure you can tell I am not a beer drinker, but this looks like it would be a nice gift for a beer lover – maybe one who doesn’t have the space or cash to have a full draft set-up at home. I dunno, it just looks like a cool gift. The Amazon reviews are decent, but if you are into this, I’d suggest you do your own research.

This is the one I initially saw on Amazon. You put in a bottle or can of your favourite brew, pull the lever then enjoy!

I like it because it’s small. It’s portable. And looks like it would make a great conversation piece. I imagine a beer lover, gathering with friends to watch TV or chatting at a party, while enjoying the magic of this little device.

Would you like something like this a a present? Would you use it often or would you forget about it after the novelty wore off? Lemme know what you think.

I’ve got my eye on some coffee mugs.

Let’s just start by getting this out of the way … I love mugs. I dont know why. I cant explain it. I just do. I have more mugs than glasses in my kitchen. I have regular mugs. I have oversized mugs. I have mugs with designs on them. I have mugs without.

What I don’t have are glass mugs. I don’t have those cute double walled joints that you can see your yummy concoctions through.

Look at these double walled mugs. Aren’t they just beautiful?!?

This set of 2 comes with a cute little spoon! YAY!!

Come on now! The interior of this one is shaped like a heart. How could I not love this?

What do you think? Are these just so fun looking and fancy? Wouldn’t having your coffee or tea be soooo much better from one of these? I kinda think so. Tell me what you think. How do you feel about mugs? How many is too much?

Did you know about thick water?

I spend a lot of time scrolling through timelines on Twitter. This past weekend I came across a post with a video of 2 gentlemen who were going to attempt to recreate a big mac. Hmm, nothing special about this, right? Wrong!

You see not only were they going to attempt to recreate the Big Mac, but there were going to make everything from scratch, and use all the chemicals as noted by McDonalds. Here is the video if you want to watch:

Now the video was quite interesting but something about one of the ingredients caught my eye. THICK WATER! What is that?

Thick water and other thickened liquids are generally consumed by people who have challenges swallowing. People who have trouble swallowing may find that liquids cause coughing, spluttering or aspiration . Thickening liquids allow them to be consumed safely. There are various consistencies to thickened liquids, and people can make them at home using thickening powders or purchase pre-thickened liquids.

Pardon my ignorance, but I had never thought of the challenges that might come if you have difficulties swallowing, before looking into what thick water is. I’ve never known anyone who would need it. So I’m glad I came across it in the video. I’m happy to have learned something. Have any of you ever heard of thickened liquids? Have you every tried them?

How do you feel about planter bags?

First off, a planter bag or grow bag is a bag which you can fill with soil and grow plants. They are usually made from breathable fabrics and come in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes. I must admit that I had never heard of these things before I came across them in a video. They were being used as an alternative way of growing potatoes. I thought this was pretty cool, since not only could you grow your own potatoes but you didn’t need much space to do so.

This isn’t the video I saw but its the same idea.

There are many other ways to grow potatoes (and other tubers/ground provisions) in containers such as buckets and laundry baskets but I’m gonna focus on planter bags.

As I mentioned before, using planter bags or grow bags solves several problems. If you have no space to plant things in the ground, fill up some bags and you’re good to go. Not sure you want to commit to planting in a certain area? Move your planter bags to your preferred spot. You can even hang them if you’d like! No longer interested in gardening? Dump out the soil and put away the bags.

The flexibility you get with grow bags makes them quite popular.

This one has over 22,000 ratings/reviews on Amazon! It comes in 10 sizes, ranging from 1 gallon to 30 gallons and it’s sold in packs of five.

I’m definitely feeling this set of grow bags.

This planter bag is also sold in multi-packs. How much you get is determined by the size of the bag you buy.

In any case, I kinda like this one a bit more than the other. Why? Well, its because of it comes with a little flap that you can roll open to harvest any root vegetables you may have grown. I think this is definitely a plus.

I am still new to the world of gardening but I absolutely love the idea of using planter bags. The flexibility is a big win when you arent in a position to have a permanent gardening space.

So tell me, have you ever used planter bags? Did you love them or hate them? Should I give them a try?

How do you feel about inflatable chairs?

I have been thinking about ways I could spend more time outside without leaving home. The simple solution would be go wandering around my yard (duh!) Its not a big yard but there is enough space for some fruit trees, a garden and a sitting area. I even have a patio! What I don’t have is a comfortable place to sit.

Unfortunately, my current residence isn’t a permanent one, and though I am not sure when I will be moving, I don’t want to have too much to move with. I don’t want to put down too many roots and then have difficulty leaving. So I have been looking into portable furniture items and then I came up on these …. inflatable chairs!!!

Check out this guy! Image by Tania Dimas from Pixabay

Maybe I am late to the party but I now love these things! They seem like so much fun, but more importantly they are very temporary. You can inflate them when needed and then deflate and store them when you don’t. You can take them from room to room or place to place, without much difficulty. I am in love!

I am a little worried about the quality of the plastic and having to inflate often but I am very intrigued and think they would suit me just fine.

I like this one but it seems kind of low and small. There are almost 2000 ratings on Amazon, a lot of which are positive. I just wish there were more pictures of it being used by adults.

I like this one because it seats multiple people. And it looks big enough to be really comfortable.

This one might be good for folks who actually want to do outdoorsy things, like camping etc. It might even work at the beach.

So friends, tell me if you have tried these inflatable beauties. What has your experience been like? Are they more trouble than they are worth?

Did you know you can buy a house on Amazon?

I’m sure you know you that Amazon is an online retailer where you can can get anything from a pin to an anchor. It just never occurred to me that you could actually buy a house on there.

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

Now Amazon is not a real estate broker so you can buy a house with a physical street address. What you can get though, is everything you need to build your own tiny house.

Here is a video of a family of 4 living in their tiny house

There is no set definition for a tiny house as they vary from place to place, but it is generally accepted that tiny homes are those less than 400 sq ft. You can build one on a plot of land or you can get one on wheels so you don’t have to be tied to one location. Tiny houses on wheels though similar to recreational vehicles (RVs), aren’t RVs and are covered different regulations.

In fact, they are covered by different covenants and zoning laws, so if you ever opt to get one, be sure to look into all of that so you don’t find yourself in breach. Also be sure to consider other problems that may pop such as – not enough storage space during a pandemic or having nowhere to park or not being able to live in it full-time, in some neighbourhoods.

But if you do opt to get one, you can engage a contractor or open your Amazon app and purchase a tiny home kit. I saw one option to buy a 40ft container! I mean, that’s not so tiny nor is it mobile, but it has all you need to function as a home. I also saw several cabin-type kits, which you can use as a tiny home, or guest house on your own property. Most of these kits come with fitting for insulation, electrical wiring and plumbing – but read the fine print to make sure you have all you need.

With all that said, would you buy one of these kits or opt for a contractor or try to do it yourself? Have you ever considered a tiny house? Do you live in one? Tell me about it!

Have you seen this building block mug?

I can’t say that I have spent much time with building blocks recently. To be honest, the most I’ve done is shop for Legos for my son for Christmas. Despite this, I do feel that building blocks are a wonderful toy regardless of age. It helps get the creative juices flowing and if nothing else, it can be a great bonding experience.

Anyhoo, during a bit of doom scrolling on Amazon I came across this mug. So what’s so great about this mug? Well, not only is it good for sipping your fave beverage, you can use your blocks with it. You can add blocks in no particular pattern or create a wonderful scene to accompany snack time. It is not a lego branded item but I gather that it works with blocks from various manufacturers.

I can see this being a great gift for any fan of blocks. I can also see it being a big distraction at meal time and being fought over if there is more than one block lover! So gift wisely.

Have you seen this flat water bottle?

I am not currently in the market for a water bottle but I love the options. You can have glass, plastic or metal water bottles. You have insulated and non-insulated options. The design options are innumerable.

So a bit of random browsing brought me to the memobottle. This is the first flat water bottle I’ve ever come across. It hadn’t occurred to me that a flat water bottle was a possibility, but having seen it, I kinda like it. It would be kinda weird to drink from, but the more I think about it is the more I can see how a flat water bottle makes sense. It would fit a lot better in a handbag or laptop bag. It would be a lot less bulky when compared to a traditional bottle. It probably wouldn’t be a good replacement for a bottle you’d take on a walk or to the gym etc.

This would definitely fit better in a handbag but I don’t think it would be great at the gym.

It holds about 750ml (about 25oz).

This version is the 6oz bottle. I can’t think of a practical every day use, but it may be good to keep in a first-aid kit or something like that.

While it may not be the most practical purchase ever, I’d still get it because it looks cool. Tell me what you think folks! Would you buy this? Would you hate it if someone gifted it to you?

How do you feel about bracelet flasks?

The trend to make everyday items multi-functional has increased over the past few years. Our phones are no longer just for talking. We can run entire businesses from them. Our watches no longer just tell time. They can now capture all manner of information about our health and fitness. Even our jewelry has dual purposes. They are no longer just for adornment, but they can get you help in an emergency.

Recently, I stumbled on this bracelet flask and I couldn’t help but wonder why is it a thing, while simultaneously thinking I really want it! If not already clear from the name, a bracelet flask is a piece of jewelry that also works as a flask. Its absolutely perfect for those occasions where you need to “discreetly” tote around a few ounces of a little somethin’.

Look at this one that I spotted over at Fancy.com. It’s really kinda cute. I love the blue one but the cork sticking out of the top is kinda weird. Also, it holds about a shot of liquor … which I suppose is enough to chug quickly, without looking too weird.

Image from Fancy.com

This one from Amazon, holds 2 – 3 shots and even comes with a funnel for easy filling!

How is that not a win?!

The bracelets can be found in a variety of looks. Some a plain while others are bedazzled! Some have rhinestone caps while others have wine cork looking caps. There’s something for everyone. After a bit of browsing, I must admit that this is an interesting little gizmo. I am not seeing a practical everyday application for this, but it may be a fun item to take along to parties and festivals and the like. It might even be a good conversation starter if you are in a spot where you may need a bit of help.

So Friends, let me know how you feel about this bit of functional jewelry! Have you ever seen one in real life? Do you or someone you know own one? Have you seen one of the other novelty flasks (lipstick, hairbrush, tampons)? Would you like one as a gift?
